Artist Statement

As a Western Canadian artist my work is about constructing  and deconstructing narratives of personal and cultural identity, and exploring emotional attachments to place. Photography for me, is an activity and process where identity, place, land, memory, history and embodied action coalesce. Whether I exhibit photographic landscapes, constructed diorama scenes, or installation projects, I intend my works to act as catalysts for conversation regarding notions of what or where home is, and what makes an insider or an outsider. Through all of my work, I seek to re-contextualize and investigate  "place" in terms of human experience and to reflect on these experiences as identity-forming practices.
